Description:
***   SOLD   ***   C.S. Rosson of Norwich was a noted provincial gunmaker and this is his special Wildfowl Magnum Model. A boxlock non-ejector, no. 3224 was made in 1932 and represents a great value for the shooter who prefers a heavier double. As a “fowler” this gun was made with 30” nitro steel barrels with 3” magnum chambers and sports sideclips and a crossbolt for extra strength. Very little adornment with plain border engraving this double was designed for hard work. Automatic safety, double triggers, and extractors. Weight is 7lb 8oz.    ***   The 30” nitro steel barrels are chambered and proofed to shoot 3” magnum or shorter shotshells. The top of the right barrel is inscribed “C.S. Rosson” while the top of the left barrel reads “13 Rampant Horse Street Norwich”. The barrels are topped by a raised solid hand crosshatched rib. The right barrel is bored 0.731 with a constriction of 0.030 for 3/4 choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.034. The left barrel is also bored 0.731 with a constriction of 0.030 for 3/4 choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.034. The barrel bluing is largely intact but they have a number of scratches. The barrel flats show some staining.   ***   The stock and splinter forearm are made of figured European walnut with a nice finish and crisp checkering. The stock has a Prince of Wales style pistol grip and a blank initial oval. Stock dimensions are 14-1/2” including a 5/8” recoil pad by 1-1/2” by 2-1/4”. Cast off for the righthanded shooter.   ***   This is a well-made and sturdy English double that would be great for shooting waterfowl, dove and turkeys. A lot of gun for not a lot of money.  ***  Please note that the photographs are part of the description. I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer’s FFL license.
