Bisleys were made from 1894-1915 with relatively few made during the last several years of production, making this a fairly late manufactured example. Unusual to have a long 7 1/2" barrel in the Bisley model generally and in late production specifically as the 4 3/4" and 5 1/2" barrel lengths predominate in this model and certainly during this time period of production. At some time during its useful life, it was fitted with walnut grips that look good and fit well. The barrel retains fine deep high polish blue used by Colt at this time with the usual holster wear leaving a gray streak down the left side and on the outside portion of the ejector housing. There is good deep blue on the upper and lower portions of the ejector housing and top and bottom of the barrel. The cylinder blue has thinned and is mixing heavily with gray with fine blue in the flutes. The grip straps and bottom of the trigger guard bow are silvered from handling with some dark, aged blue on the butt. The frame sides show that the case colors have faded to a mottled gray (not silver) with some very light color and some good color on the frame ahead of the cylinder. Screws are excellent as are the markings. Action is tight and excellent and the hammer has four distinct clicks/notches. The Cylinder pin is fine and not chewed up as often found. The bore is fairly bright and excellent and the front sight has not been altered or filed. All matching numbers. An attractive and scarce long barrel Bisley with a lot of life left in it!
