In business since 1978, we serve both the Reenactors and collectors of original Guns, swords, and accouterments. Description: This is a very good Model 1818 N. Starr, Calvary Sabor for Dragoons. This sword is very solid and is over 200 years old. The only problems I see are No Leather wrap or Brass wire on the handle, No date on the knuckle guard. But I did try to find one without damaging the sword, The leather washer at the blade and hilt is missing. The last one I saw on G.L. sold for $750.00, but it was in 5% better condition. This sword has no major nicks on the blade. These were usually caused by kids playing sword fighting. This sword is stamped, U.S. L.S. N.Starr. The other side of the blade has some letters stamped. I can see Mass. The Iron scabbard is complete and Japaned, (painted Black) The 2 sling loops are present. The 10,000 sword contract with Starr, were replaced with the Model 1840 Wristbreaker sword. Most of the Starr 1818 sabers were sent and stored at U.S. arsenals, mostly in the South. Some were used by Confederate and Union Cavalry early in the Civil War but were quickly replaced with battlefield pick ups and Imports. Please use the photo's to judge value. I will consider offers above $600.00. Shipping is $22.00 to the lower 48. All other states please add $8.00 SOLD |
