Description:
This is a very cool British No.4 Mk I (T) sniper rifle rig. These rifles were the standard British sniper rifles developed in the late 1930s and used until the early 1960s. The receiver side wall is marked "No. 4 Mk I T", and the butt socket is marked "M47C/1945/X30173/TR". The rifle is matching numbers throughout, though the wrist is not marked with a serial number for the original scope The scope mount and can that are included here do not match the serial of the rifle, and are mismatched from each other. This original No. 32 MKIII scope is marked by maker with serial and broad arrow proof. It is fitted with its original, correct wartime smooth semi-pistol grip stock with the standard proof marks, matching serial number on the forestock. The buttstock is fitted with a wartime pot metal buttplate with butt trap compartment, but the screw-on cheekpiece has been removed. The scope tin is especially rare and seldom seen, as most feature the canvas case. Complete with an original WWII issue Chest S.A. No.15.Mk.1, green wooden storage/shipping container. Original carry straps are present but one is torn. Bore has strong rifling but a little frost and pitting in the grooves, and would also benefit from a cleaning.
