#4847 Smith & Wesson 38 S/A First Model (AKA “Baby Russian), centerfire 38S&W, decent VG+ bore sthat will clean even better and with good strong rifling …but also having light to medium pitting and dark grooves. Crisp tight action. Exterior retains 90-95% original nickel finish, standard hard rubber grips are about excellent. Only manufactured in 1876-77 with a total production of 25000+ (this one is mid-range being in the 12XXX serial range), this early centerfire S&W is easily identified by the longer extractor lug beneath the barrel and thus being very similar in looks to its earlier “big brother”, the 8” barreled 44cal Russian Model S/A. Except for the slightly lesser bore condition, this is easily in Antique Excellent condition. $725
