Description:
For your consideration is an excellent pair of WWII German late-war winter combat boots in brown leather with an RBNr. These boots were most likely made in 1944 and would have been used for winter combat on the Eastern Front, during the Ardennes Offensive & any other area that German troops served under winter conditions.

The boots are in overall fantastic condition and are European size 27 ½ which is equivalent to a US 10 ½ which will fit almost any mannequin.

Working from the top down:

The wool felt uppers  (actually a mix of a variety of materials; wool, horse hair etc.) are in great condition. This is the most vulnerable area of German winter boots & the wool felt has survived quite well. The felt uppers are prone to mothing and these generally have a number of holes. These show some very minor mothing but it is minimal and only on the surface. It is barely noticeable & is present on one boot.  The interior of the uppers is in like condition & all 4 pull straps are completely intact. These appear to be made of a navy-bluematerial. Nice RBNr markings visible in both boots. The leather straps on the back of the boots are fully functional. The leather is soft & supple. The blackened buckles are free of rust & function as intended. The leather reinforcing strip on the rear of the boot is fully intact. Soft & supple. No issues with the stitching.

The brown leather is also in great condition. The leather is still soft and supple but shows some scuffs, wrinkling and mild staining from age. I have treated the leather with a leather conditioner and it looks quite nice. No major gouges in the leather. All the stitching is intact.

The boot soles are also in excellent condition but they are a bit stiff. Each boot sole retains 80-90% of their hobnails as well as the leather traction discs. I have seen these boots with just hobnails or just the leather traction discs. Both are a bit rarer & depended on the manufacturer. It is nice to have both present! The hobnails show expected surface rust as do the nails in the boot sole. Toe & heel irons are also present & firmly attached. They show expected minor surface rust as well.

Overall, a really great pair of WWII German winter boots that will compliment any mannequin & will display quite well.
