1894 TAKEDOWN OCTAGON RIFLE IN SCARCE .32-40 CALIBER, #146XXX, MADE 1902. The takedown feature paired with the .32-40 caliber and octagon barrel is seldom encountered. This is a fine example with fine aged blue on about half of the receiver sides with the balance mixing mainly brown with gray on the edges. The barrel and mag tube display good aged blue mixing plum and brown. Sharp markings, buckhorn rear sight paired with a Lyman small blade/bead front sight. Fine wood shows light handling only with tight wood to metal fit with classic Winchester reddish/brown walnut coloring. Takedown is tight as is the action. Bore is a little dark only with strong rifling all the way through and not pitted. An unusual and attractive 120 year old 1894.
