Description:
Here is your chance to own a completely original WWI Imperial German Gewehr 98 as it left the Mauser Oberndorf factory in 1917. This rifle saw extensive use for the last two years of the war, it is weather worn, the bore is clean no pitting but has about 30% of its lands left, the steel has a nice aged light patina and the stock is weatherbeaten. The real rarity of this Mauser is that it is completely matching numbers down to the action screws and that includes the bolt and the stock which has very nice cartouches all over it and the serial stamped under the buttstock and it even has what appears to be a Heer "H" waffen under the Imperial ones. Additionally, it has an original WWI German made sling on it and they are extremely rare. All that said, the rifle is very solid with no import marks or duffle cuts. The wood has never been sanded or refinished and the steel has never been touched except by age. It took me at least 3 years to find a matching Gewehr once i decided I wanted one and I got this rifle at a very reasonable price which I am passing on to you. I have scoured the internet recently and you will not find a matching example for uinder $2500. This is the real deal extremely rare and is a rock solid investment. The action is just butter smooth and is the slickest I have ever felt in 40 years of collecting Mausers. I am selling this piece of history for one reason only, my interest in WW2 artifacts drives my collection. Thanks for looking and God Bless.
