On consignment from a private collection, we have a very nice 1945 M1911 A1 U.S. Army Colt 22LR conversion unit. Owner stated this came to CMP as a 22 conversion. Great for some one who has a era matching 45 slide.
Rebuilt by the Anniston Army Depot 3 / 87. Right front side of trigger guard is marked 56.
The left side of the frame behind the trigger is marked “G.H.D.”, the initials of Guy H. Drewry Lt. Col. USA, sub-inspector for Smith & Wesson .38 Revolvers, Colt .45, 38 and .22 Revolvers and Pistols, Winchester and Underwood M1 Carbines and Colt Ace .22 Pistols 1930-1946.
