We offer you a “Collector Grade” Herman Weihrauch HW 52 .22 Single Shot Falling Block Target Rifle with all the Original Sights.
Starting at the beginning, the Hermann Weihrauch company was founded in 1899 in Zella-Mehlis, the same small German town where several other famous gun manufacturers like Walther and Anschutz had begun. Hermann Weihrauch, Sr. was well known for crafting excellent hunting rifles. He had three sons, Otto, Werner, and Hermann, Jr. who soon joined the family company and flourished until WWII. After World War II they were reestablished in Bavaria and the company is now best known for their high-quality Arminius-brand air guns. Theses HW (Hermann Weihrauch) 52 sporting rifle was manufactured from around 1952 to about 1988. It featured a lateral safety bolt and a finely adjustable trigger. Total production of this model as well as design changes and year of manufacture is not known.
We offer you an all original "High Percentage" HW 52 .22 target rifle that wears a 26 inch medium heavy barrel that has an excellent bore. The bluing on the barrel is in excellent condition with very little signs of use. The receiver finish shows some light use marks and overall is in very fine condition. The forearm is in excellent condition as you can see. It has a unique feature in that it is has a drilled cavity accessed under the tip cap. The cap is actually a threaded knurled plug that permits the addition of balancing weights to the front of the forearm cavity if wanted. The butt stock is also in excellent condition with one small chip at the left side of the upper tang as shown in the pictures. The pad is factory and in excellent condition which gives the rifle a L.O.P. of 14 inches. The left side of the barrel at the receiver is marked “.22 KAL lfB 430 Eagle N proof”. The left side on the receiver is marked “Eagle N proof / HW 52”. The right side of the receiver is marked in an oval “Weihrauch Mellrichstadt”. Mellrichstadt is the town in Germany in which Weihrauch is located.
The rifle has a globe front sight with one insert in it. The mid-barrel open sight is adjustable for position on sliding rail. That rail can also be used for attaching a scope if wanted. At the tang is a very fine diopter sight mounted on receiver dovetail base with knurled adjustments. It still has the removable rubber eye piece with it as pictured. All of the sights function and adjust as they should with no issues. It would be very difficult to find another one as complete and in this condition.
