Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: They really dont get any prettier, classier, or cooler than this! This is a 1920's to 1930's vintage R.F. Sedgley Custom 1903 Springfield Sporter chambered in .22 WCF. While Sedgley made a large number of 1903 sporters, most of them were pretty basic while still being very classy and very well made. He only made a VERY small number of rifles like this one that literally have every single option that was offered by the Sedgley firm. This was a showpiece type of rifle from Sedgley and would have cost a fortune despite being made during the Great Depression. Because of the depression, this severely limited the number of rifles built with so many factory custom options. This spectacular all-original custom Sedgley is serial number "613" and features a gloss blue finish on all of the steel parts, excellent factory engraving on the barrel, receiver, side scope mount, floorplate, triggerguard, pistol grip cap, and even the rear bolt shroud assembly, a 24" inch sporter profile barrel (with engraving near the receiver and again at the muzzle end), a jeweled and polished bolt body, a factory-installed short side rail optics mount, a factory installed Lyman receiver sight base on the right side of the receiver, a polished bolt handle with a checkered bolt knob, a modified 3-position safety on the bolt that was shortened and polished to clear optics, factory installed Unertl scope bases. a barrel-band front sight assembly that is engraved and fitted with a push-button sight hood release, an internal box magazine with a removable floorplate, a hand-fit and hand-tuned trigger, a hand-checkered American Walnut pistol-grip stock with a checkered wrist and forearm and Monte Carlo style cheekpiece, a factory installed Ebony forend tip, a factory engraved pistol grip cap, factory sling swivel bases, and a period correct Lyman Target Spot 10X scope with the steel screw-in end caps still intact. This R.F. Sedgley Custom 1903 in .22WCF is as good as it could possibly get, regardless of how much money the buyer was willing to spend. We had the exact twin to this rifle 5 or 6 years ago in 30-06 caliber and just recently were able to purchase this matching gun from the same collection. This rifle really has to be seen and felt in person to truly appreciate the excessive amount of workmanship and artistic ability incorporated into it. It really is functional art. The action was hand-fit and hand-tuned and the result is a butter-smooth bolt travel; and the bolt turns into battery with the barrel almost effortlessly with no grit or slop. All of the controls on this 2-of-a-kind Sedgley custom are in perfect working order. The hand-tuned and lapped single-stage trigger is superb, breaking like a thin glass rod with a very light pull weight. The bore is mirror-bright and in excellent condition. The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves throughout the entire length of the barrel all the way to the crown of the muzzle. There are zero visible imperfections or erosion in the bore. The 10X Lyman Target Spot scope mounted on this Sedgley is also in excellent condition, showing only some tiny little handling/storage marks. The scope has a tapered post reticle with a horizontal crosshair and the optics are crystal clear and bright despite it's age!! All of the scope adjustments are in perfect working order including the adjustable objective lens, as-are the blued steel Lyman rings with elevation and windage adjustments. The Unertl bases on this Sedgley are color case hardened and still show 98% of the original bright colors on both blocks. If the new owner so-chooses the Lyman scope could be removed and a Lyman receiver peep sight insert could be installed in the right-side base to use the iron sights OR a quick release scope could be mounted on a Griffin & Howe style scope base to fit to the short side rail mount on the left side of the gun (which is also Sedgley factory engraved). The Sedgley comes with a vintage leather sling with Winchester style ladder-type sling swivels. This vintage custom Sedgley would be a showpiece addition to ANY custom rifle collection. There can't be more than a handful of these rifles in existence today, and the condition of this one has to put it within the top 1% that do. If you want a seriously classy and exceptionally handsome vintage rifle you can show off to your gun collecting/appreciating friends that they are guaranteed NOT to have, this fully-loaded Sedgley in .22 WCF is it! You could not upgrade from this beautiful work of art in ANY respect, it truly is as good as it gets for Sedgley custom 1903's. The .22 WCF ammunition is still available by some select ammunition manufacturers as well as from individuals who make it and sell it online. We will all hate to see this rifle go as everyone here at A&M Inc. has admired this rifle for hours! SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .22 WCF Manufacturer: R.F.
