Description:
This is a very nice example of the classic Springfield Trapdoor Saddle Ring Carbine. The serial number dates the firearm production to early 1875. The bore is in very good condition, with some wear but a mostly bright finish with clear lands and grooves. The rear sight leaf is marked with gradations up to 1,500 yards and has the "C" (Carbine) stamp. Marks of interest include: The stock is in very good original condition, with lots of character. There are some small dents and scratches in the wood, as expected on a rifle this age, but the stock does not appear to have had any major repairs. The "U.S." marked butt plate is still in good shape with a functional pivoting trap with three storage locations within the butt and includes three cleaning rod sections. This is a great opportunity to pick up a very nice example of a classic U.S. issue firearm. .45-70 Government
