"Remington Conversion of an 1816 Model U.S. musket. Remington supplied the lock and Maynard type primer system to the Frankford arsenal. The arsenal would rifle the barrel. Musket looks to have been cleaned. Metal parts are in the bright with pinprick pitting. Stock is good and has been lightly sanded. Both barrel and lock plate are dated 1858. Unique example of older musket being upgraded in the advancement of percussion system.
