Description:
With a bore of About .42 cal., and a 27 1/2” octagon long barrel with a moderately oxidized bore. This is an American rifle. The iron surfaces are a pewter gray patina with a ramrod thimble rudimentarily soldered to the underside of the barrel. There is some scattered oxidation and light pitting in the area of the nipple barrel, the barrel marked “Remington” at its rear. There is a pewter nosecap with simple brass furniture and a star-shaped German silver inlay at right of butt. The cherry stock rates good showing lightly softened edges, antique varnish, overall dings and handling marks. The lock seems to operate mechanically and rudimentary open sights are present. Overall this fine New York State made rifle with the famous maker Remington made barrel is very interestting. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
