SOLD When hostilities broke out in 1860 , the beginning of the Civil War, Virginia knew that it would be on the front line and immrediately had taken an inventory of servicable firerams in the hnads of private citizen and about 80% were still flintlock and the chore of converting them to percussion began immediately. This may well have been a Virginia converstion as well as shortening to make an artillery or sargent's musket, with a round barrel of 34" and a caliber of .75. The exterior metal is greyish and the GR/TOWER lock works well. Has an early tulip iron ram-rod, and correct brass furniture. Nipple is clean and serviceable. The forend wood has a field repair of the period and a brass nose cap. Overall a very colorful musket that may have been used in the Rev War, War of 1812 and the Civil War! When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost.
