GORGEOUS CUSTOM SHILEN DGA SINGLE SHOT BOLT ACTION VARMINTER IN 220 SWIFT CALIBER, #1XXX, PROBABLY MADE IN THE 1980s. The Shilen "DGA" action stands for "Damn Good Action" and was used on their custom rifles. Shilen DGA rifles were hand built and expensive. Known for extreme accuracy, all Shilen rifles and barrels have a stellar reputation whether in the varmint, sporting or bench rest categories. This example has a 26" medium heavy stainless steel barrel, rigid DGA single shot bolt action made for utmost accuracy and a non-checkered nicely figured reddish/brown varminter stock. All DGA actions have octagon receiver tops and are known for their tight fitting smoothness. Typically, none of their stocks were checkered and this one has a fairly wide forend for shooting over a rest. Every DGA action I have seen has a purplish/blue hue with bright bolt, and this one is no exception. As one would expect, it has a light, crisp trigger pull and fitted with Redfield two piece scope bases, recessed target crowned muzzle and cheek piece stock. Weighs 10 1/4 lbs. as shown. These rarely come up for sale. As an aside, I have three of these factory DGA rifles (6mm Rem., .284 Win. and .308) and all are tack drivers! About as fine a walnut and steel bolt rifle as has ever been made. A class act.
