++++SOLD+++++ Clark was famous for making custom semi-auto pistols in a wide variety of formats. Very notable was his exacting work to make his pistols shoot within a 2.5" group at 50 yards, out of a ransom rest. What he did was take a normal slide (in this case a 5" Colt government slide) and weld another piece cut from another slide (hence the "Longslide" name) to make a 6" slide. He then fashioned a 6" barrel from match grade Douglas "XX" blanks. Then to complete the package, he would add Bomar adjustable rear sights, a partridge style front sight (which is on this particular Longslide), and some custom stippling to the front of the grip strap. Then add some trigger work to refine the shooting experience, you have a custom pistol that feels like the best 1911 you ever shot! Many owners of these custom Longslide pistols say that they are superior to any Colt Gold Cup, and the performance is smooth as butter. This gun features a custom Longslide made to fit on a Colt Government frame (frame serial 309957-C - made in 1967). The markings on the slide show "6/67" along with the last 3 digits of the serial (957) demonstrating that the slide is also original to the frame. The trigger, which is fitted with a trigger shoe, has no creep and breaks at around 3.5-4 lbs. The overall condition of this gun is very fine, with 97-98% blue remaining (areas around the muzzle of the slide show some discoloration). The bore is bright and the action functions perfectly, with a very tight slide to frame fit. Sorry, no box or paperwork.
