Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is one of the cleanest and finest 3-screw frame Ruger Flattop Old Model Blackhawks in .357 Magnum that we have had in a VERY long time. This true survivor is exactly how it left the factory over 54 years ago, and has obviously lived a very easy life in someone's dresser or bedside table This flattop variation 3-screw Old Model Blackhawk was made for a very short time between 1955 and 1962, with only about 42,700 manufactured in total between the three barrel lengths of 4 & 5/8ths", 6.5", and 10" inches in that 7 year span. These beautifully made and expertly hand-fit Blackhawks were the pinnacle of production for that model, and quickly earned a reputation for extreme toughness and reliability to go along with their handsome design, top-quality steel, excellent accuracy potential, great ergonomics, and extremely fine fit and finish quality. By 1962, Ruger decided that they were going to make some minor engineering changes and reduce the costs involved in making the Blackhawk. The result was the 3-screw frame Blackhawk without the flat top strap. These revised Blackhawks were still very good revolvers in their own right but did not display the high-degree of hand fit and finish of the flattop models. The non-flattop Old Model Blackhawk would remain in production until the New Model Blackhawk was introduced in 1973. This particular example is fit with a 6.5" inch barrel and is serial number 39085, manufactured in 1961. It is in superb condition both mechanically and aesthetically. The factory glossy blue finish is bright and beautiful rating 98%, and you will have to examine the gun VERY closely to find anything worthy of a 2% deduction outside of an extremely faint and incomplete drag-line around the cylinder. All of the factory markings are crisp and clear, and all of the serial numbered parts including the cylinder are matching. The factory polished bright hammer sides are mirror-bright and like-new, free from any staining or pitting. All of the screw heads in the action are perfectly straight and appear unturned since assembly. The bright blue finish on top of the hammer and the rear edge of the hammer looks brand-new. As mentioned before, this 3-screw Flattop has never been back to the factory for the transfer bar safety addition, it is exactly how it originally left the Ruger factory. The bore in th 6.5" inch barrel is pristine and mirror-bright with ZERO visible imperfections. The six chambers of the cylinder are equally as perfect. The original smooth Walnut grips on this Ruger are a perfect match to each other and the gun itself. Both grip panels are in excellent condition and if not for a couple of tiny little handling marks would rate 100%. Both grip panels are tight to the frame with zero wiggle. The hand-tuned and fit action on this vintage Blackhawk really has to be felt to truly be appreciated. It is extremely smooth, slick, and perfectly "in time" no matter how fast or slow it is worked. It makes no difference how much tighter modern tolerances are in modern gun manufacturing, there is truly no substitute for an expert gunsmith's touch. All of the controls on this Blackhawk are also in like-new, perfect working order. This 3-screw Old Model Flattop Blackhawk still has 99% plus of it's service life remaining in it, it hasn't even begun to be "broken-in" yet. If you have been looking for a truly special 3-screw Flattop Blackhawk for your collection here is your chance to get one of the best in existence.
