Description:
General Specs: Alex Martin, Year 2001, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 10oz, Chokes SK/IC
Serial Number: 7058

Alexander Martin has been a well-known fine gun company near Glasgow, Scotland for over a century.  In the year 2000 Alex Martin began marketing a finely made Over/Under shotgun with the model name “CONTINENTAL” that was produced by the finest gunmakers in Italy.  They have several grades and options offered, and this gun, sn7058 made in 2001, is the highest grade ever offered and is a BEST GUN in all aspects of the term.  First, it is a fine game gun weighing just 6lbs. 9oz. with its long 29” barrels and 15” LOP and balanced just perfectly on the hinge pin.  Choked SK/IC, it is the perfect grouse, quail, woodcock gun, or any upland bird over pointing dogs.  Second, it is a stunningly beautiful work of the gunmaker’s art, with 100% coverage of hand-cut engraving with bulino style game scenes, banknote style scroll, and shaded backgrounds created signed by L. Sabatti, a noted Italian engraver.  The stock is true, exhibition quality, Turkish Circassian walnut with an English style buttstock and slim field-style forend, handsomely checkered to perfection with 28 line-per-inch checkering.  The gun has been carried afield and there are the expected light handling marks in the finish, but no nicks or deep scratches.  The single trigger and entire firing system is contained in a hand-detachable drop-out trigger group similar to the Perazzi drop-out trigger group and found only on the finest shotguns.  The entire mechanics and firing system drops into your hand for inspection, cleaning, repair, or replacement.  Just examine the photos and you will see a truly stunning firearm, with special BEST GUN FEATURES like drop points at the head of the stock, checkered butt, rebated frame to retain the head of the stock, deeply sculpted and beaded breech balls, sculpted frame…this is not your usual mass produced over/under.  In today’s world this gun would exceed $50,000 to buy something comparable (a Piotti O/U with this level of wood and engraving would exceed $60K!).  The metal work and engraving would exceed $18,000, and the stock work would exceed $8000, and that leaves the action and barrels to make up the rest.  At the offered price it is an extremely good value and as fine a gun as can be bought at this price point.  Cased in a fine leather case, it is an appropriate gun for clays or game and something you will be proud to carry and hand down to your loved ones.  Thanks for looking!
