Built in 1957 on the four screw N-frame this rare forward-roll marked Pre Model 29 is one of only a small handful made! Belonging to USMC Colonel R.C. Hiatt this sought after .44 Magnum has stories to tell! Note the inscription on the left side of the frame COL. R.C. HIATT. USMC. Colonel Hiatt commanded the 3rd 155mm Howitzer Battalion supporting the amphibious divisions perilous advances in the Pacific! There are numerous books and citations including National Archive sources. A truly neat individual that served an important role shaping America.
The gun is what every collector hopes for retaining 99% of the original bright blue finish which shows virtually no wear save for the slightest collector type handling evidence. The ‘Cokes’ are gorgeously figured with the right panel showing just a little more wear. The bore is mint and the mechanical working order is flawless. Overall an investment grade and meaningful .44 Magnum straight from an identified and decorated USMC Colonel!
