Price Reduced....Another great item from Gainesville Pawn! Up for sale is a Remington Model 720. This is the Rarest Remington Bolt action rifle produced. The 720 was made between 1941 and 1944 with a total production of 2500. The Navy purchased 1000 of these in 1942. They are proofed on the stock with crossed cannons and FJA (frank J Atwood). This one is engraved on the floor plate with "SECRETARY OF THE NAVY TROPHY PACIFIC FLEET RIFLE CHAMPION 1971". The sight elevator is missing. It has a few handling marks but appears to be unfired. They never saw service and were stored at the Navy's Crane, Indiana Ammunition Depot. They were ordered to be destroyed in 1963 fortunately Major Kam Hayden U.S.M.C. suggested they be awarded as trophy's to top Navy and Marine Corps competitive shooters. The model was designated as "The Secretary of the Navy Trophy". The 720 was designed to compete with the Winchester model 70. This gun is a trophy rifle. we believe the gun to be unfired and is in mint condition with just a few tiny handling marks, 30-06 caliber. *Please be aware that all items are sold “AS IS”.
