Description:
This is one of the finest examples of a Boyle & Gamble Foot officer's swords available. The blade retains most of the etching clearly showing the CSA and the second national flag of the Confederacy. This dates its manufacture to 1863. I had it appraised by Dave at Arizona Swords. Both the sword and scabbard are fully original and in Fine condition. The blade has an unstopped fuller and several defects in the blade from forging. The handle has 95% of the leather wrapping and the wire is complete and intact. The Leather scabbard is all there and tightly stitched along the top seam. The drag is two parts seamed in the middle. The leather of the scabbard seems to be twice as thick as a U.S. scabbard and is still supple with minor crazing as seen in the photos. The cast brass hilt and guard have minor imperfections as do all B & G swords. The guard has slipped out of the pocket in the hilt but does not detract from the sword. This is fully guaranteed to be all original and as described. If I cannot sell it for $11,000.00, I will leave it to my Granddaughter who will be alive for the 200-year anniversary of the Civil War. Money back if not satisfied with buyer paying the return shipping, and returned as sent by me.
