Description:
One of very few toggle action rifles that were tested by the US military, the Pedersen rifle was a direct competitor of the M1 Garand. After completing a small run at the Springfield Armory, the balance were assembled by Vickers & Armstrong in the UK. Most were rifles, the Carbines a true rarity. This example #255 is marked identically to the rifles, principally differing in the barrel length and details of the forend.  The top of the chamber is stamped "C/2", "PEDERSEN SELFLOADER PA/VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS LTD." on the left side of the receiver, importer mark on the underside of the barrel, and a set of small "Lion" proofs on the receiver and the bolt, the latter fitted with a "SAFE" and "REDY” marked crossbar safety.

Condition: Excellent original condition showing minimal wear in the expected locations as photographed. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. An outstanding, all-original, Pedersen carbine, sure to please the most advanced collector of experimental or military firearms.
