Description:
***   SOLD   ***   Handsome and great handling Webley & Scott Ltd Model 400 16 bore no. 116323 was made 1938 – 40 with profuse best engraving and elaborately carved fences. Highly figured European walnut stock and forearm. Lots of original case coloring, disc set strikers, Scott screw grip third bite, and great mechanical condition. Weighing just 5lb 12oz it is an enjoyable gun to carry for a day afield. Presented in its original compact leather case with maker’s label. An earlier and much higher build quality than the later Model 700's. The highest grade (3) made buy Scott at the time.  ***   The quick-on-target 27” barrels original nitro steel barrels have had their chambers lengthened to 2-3/4” and reproofed. They are topped by a raised solid concave gamestyle rib. The top of the barrels are inscribed “Webley & Scott Ltd” and “Birmingham”. The right barrel is bored 0.669 with a constriction of 0.005 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.025. The left barrel is bored 0.667 and has a constriction of 0.011 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.025.   ***   The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made of highly figured European walnut. The finish is in very good condition but the checkering does show some wear. Stock dimensions are 14-3/4” including a 1/2” leather pad by 1-3/8” by 2”. Cast off for the righthand shot.   ***   This is a handsome and lethal little bird gun. You know what I mean. Ideal for quail, grouse, dove and woodcock. Won’t last long.  ***  Please note that the photographs are part of the description. I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer’s FFL license.
