Of all the combat shotguns, the Winchester Model 97 is probably the most popular of all. Along with the Winchester Model 12, they were the most widely used martial shotguns of WWII. Known serial number range of the WWII Model 97's is #941585-956222. These numbers are prefixed by the letter "E". This shotgun is serial number E9418XX. This is an excellent Model 97 Trench Gun. The stock has been replaced and therefore there are no cartouches. It has a Winchester metal buttplate. All other markings are correct and it has the correct 20 inch barrel marked "cyl". It has the later 4-row ventilated handguard.
