Description:
Antique Smelting Ladle for smelting lead to make round ball bullets. Wrought Iron Ladle is from the 18th century. The over all length measures 21” long and the dippers pot measure 6” from pour spout to pour spout. The handle is hand forged with a hanging ring on one end and the other end is hand riveted to the pot.  The entire ladle is covered in a dark iron patina. There is a little rust on it, but, it is certainly in usable condition for making round ball and conical bullets.  Most of these you find are much much smaller. This one was likely used to cast for an entire brigade. Would make a truly wonderful primitive display piece or put it back into service for your troop.  Primitives like this are getting harder and harder to find. Other items in the photo are not included.
