Description:
Serial #661250, .30-06, 24" barrel with a very good, bright bore that has minor freckling with the grooves at the muzzle. This is a 1917-manufactured rifle that has a 5-17 dated, "SA" barrel, and retains about 95-97% of the original blue on the receiver and barrel, with some mild silvering at the muzzle, and some further gray fading along the high edges and projections. Spots of mild gray fading are present on the bearing surfaces of the bolt body, and on the straight handle. The walnut stock and handguard have an excellent original oil finish with crisp "J.F.C." cartouche, and a small "R" stamp in the magazine cut-off relief cut. There are some scattered minor handling marks and blemishes throughout but they are very mild and do not detract from the otherwise excellent wood. There is a 4 3/4" crack on the top of the handguard running from the nose to the rear clip on the left side. An original sheet metal front sight hood is installed, and a fine M1907 type leather sling is fitted. This is a fine 1917 spec. '03 that would make a fabulous addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
