Description:
This bayonet was manufactured in 1918 by the Rock Island Arsenal. The blade of this bayonet would rate excellent with more than 80% of it original bluing, only light surface rust is percent with a patch near the guard and by the tip. This blade still retains its original length of 16 inches. This blade was not cut down for WWII. It was later paired with an M3 scabbard. The guard and pommel show more surface rust with the guard being a bit heavier. The handle is the original wood scales with two wars of scares. There is one chip in the right top scale which looks as if it has been there a long time. Spring works fine and attaches correctly to scabbard. The scabbard is in very good shape with a fine coating of surface rust on the metal parts. The US and flaming bomb are visible.
