Description:
Serial #1635100, .30-06, 24" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This rifle generally conforms to "WIN-13" specs save for the rear sight windage knob, and SA stock. The metal retains 97-98% of the original parkerized finish, with some silvering along the high edges and projections, and on the bearing surfaces of the bolt and op-rod raceway. The gas cylinder retains a commensurate amount of the original Winchester Du-Lite blue finish as well. All labeled parts are correct, and although the rifle is fitted with an early type op-rod, it does have the correct time period modification cut at the base of the handle. The walnut stock and handguards are in very good-near fine shape with minor handling marks and blemishes scattered about the reapplied oil finish. There is a straight, with-the-grain crack on the top of the rear handguard running back from the band to the receiver, and the ghost of an "SA / NFR" cartouche on the left side of the stock. While not a 100% WIN-13 rifle, this is nevertheless a splendid example of a late production Winchester Garand, and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
