Description:
This is a partial box, 30 original rounds, box of .32 Colt New Police ammunition manufactured by Winchester. Identified on p281 in Giles & Shuey One Hundred Years of Winchester Cartridge Boxes, 1856-1956 as a seldom-seen 1896 box with the “Central Fire Cartridge" call out which should have been “Center Fire" making this an early and desirable box. The primary green Winchester label features an illustration of the Colt New Police revolver and the side label states that the cartridges were made expressly for that model revolver. The two piece box is in near excellent condition with crisp graphics on the labels showing some minor flaking with bright color with light edge wear, slight seam separation on top corners with older repairs. The cartridges are in excellent condition and bear the “W.R.A. Co. 32 Colt N.P." head stamp. A seldom encountered box that will make a fantastic display item.
