Description:
The Steyr Mannlicher 1903 rifle started production in 1903, was adopted by the Greek military in 1903, and continued in Greek service until about 1949. It came out in a 1903 civilian model and was very popular among European hunters until Britain adopted new laws in 1963 that required a higher muzzle energy than the 1903 in 6.5X54 was capable of. (Though it has been known to take down full sized elephants!)
This takedown carbine rifle sports a 20.7" barrel with a shiny bore and good rifling. The blued barrel is mounted with a flip up "V" notch rear sight, brass bead front sight, and a Zeiss DIATAL-D 4X32 rifle scope with claw mounts. The top of the receiver is stamped with "MADE IN AUSTRIA" - "Patent" - "Mannlicher" - "Schoenauer" - "M1903" and the serial number on the right side. The checkered stock is very nice with a thin forend, 14 7/8" LOP, overall handling marks are very light, black grip cap, black butt plate, and sling loops. Included are black scope caps and a leather and greensling. Great rifle for your next outing!
