Description:
Project rifle, 1909 Argentine Mauser action, 24 1/2" octagon to round barrel with integral rib and front sight chambered in 8x64. Unmarked and maker unknown. Classic style English Walnut stock with double shadow cheekpiece. 14" LOP over a steel skeleton buttplate, Jerry Fisher single screw steel pistol grip cap, Ebony forend tip. Sling eyes on stock. Stock has been oil finished and what appears to be a point checkering pattern laid out. The action has been drilled and tapped, bases and quick detachable 30mm scope rings mounted. New bolt handle with checkered knob and pinstripe. Bottom metal has been contoured, needs release lever built up or replaced with Wisner. Timney fully adjustable trigger.
Work remaining:
Rear sight needs fitted to barrel and calibrated. It has one standing and one folding leaf.
Safety for scope, low swing or side swing.
Checkering.
Bluing.
This is a nice project rifle I picked up in an estate purchase and never got around to finishing. It has the potential to be a fine custom rifle.
