Boxlocks - MERCO was the trade name for Oscar Merkel, one of the several Merkel brothers in the gun trade in Suhl Germany (thank you Bob M. for this information!).
Check out the original condition on this beautiful scalloped boxlock. 90% original case color and blue and the screws appear untouched. The wood also appears to have its original finish with minimal handling marks for a gun of this age. The lack of a proof date on the flats indicate the gun was built before 1922 the year they started adding proof dates.
This gun is a super deal in fact I would call it a bargain.
