Description:
The first USMC contract for H&R Model 65 training rifles was for 4,000 rifles. These early rifles did not have any U.S. property or inspection marks. The 23" 22LR barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The left side of the barrel is marked MFG. BY HARRINGTON AND RICHARDSON ARMS CO. over WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A. with 22 LONG RIFLE ONLY below and to the rear. The top of the receiver is marked MOD. 65 - H & R REISING 22 CAL. Over HARRINGTON AND RICHARDSON ARMS CO. over WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A. The receiver has what appears to be the correct Redfield peep sight installed. 98% of its dull blue wartime finish with the magazine being parkerized. The stock is excellent with only a few scratches. Both swivels are present. The action functions correctly. This is a very nice example of the early Model 65. .22 Long Rifle
