This one includes all the martial features such as having the inspectors cartouche on the frame on the right hand side which is a CC stamp and on the barrel there is a CGC stamping. The early martial models always had these stamping. The second version of these guns would have just the stamping on the wood generally these with the 2 stamping had more of an inspection done on them. Generally there is a martial mark on top of the buttplate and this one is stamped with a worn C at the corner of the buttplate. The wood appears to have some pretty good scuffs in it being a sign of being used on the battlefield. Also looks like it has some kind of carving or address on the stock. Both sides seem to have a bit of tool workings but appear to have gone through a lot of wear since being put on there. All of the numbers match as they should. The barrel has turned mostly a plum/brown patina color with some rounding to the corners as well as fine markings. Overall mechanical functions very crisp and tight. The follower slides back and forth in the magazine tube and allows for the extension to twist on the end for loading where they generally bind up. The receiver shows a fair amount of use but still fairly sharp corners and very attractive very deep rich butterscotch patina color has developed. It has numerous scuff mars and dings being signs of use in the Civil War but still a good looking complete Henry. Made in December of 1863. A couple of initials on the right side of the frame. Hard to see them. Leroy Merz Antique Firearms specializes in antique and vintage Winchesters and other fine American firearms.
