This third model commercial Brown Bess musket is carbine caliber. The 39"" round 65 caliber smooth bore barrel has a good bore. The metal has a smooth brown patina. The barrel has Birmingham proofs. The lock is marked WARRENTED in the center and FULL PROOF in an arc at the tail. This is the first time we have observed the FULL PROOF mark. The brass furniture are fine with an even aged wear. The stock is fine with sharp edges, no chips or cracks, and very little use wear. The swivels and ramrod are present. It is also equipped with a single claw sling that appears to be of the period. The action functions correctly. This is a very nice commercial third model Brown Bess in carbine caliber that would be a good fit in any British flintlock collection.
