EXCEPTIONAL ORIGINAL SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1855 PISTOL-CARBINE DATED 1855 W/MATCHING STOCK. 12” round rifled .58 cal. barrel with Springfield Armory proofs at breech. Barrel and lock plate with desirable and scarce first year date “1855”. Lock plate also stamped with the Springfield “EAGLE” on the tape primer door and “U.S./SPRINGFIELD” on the forward tang. Brass mounts with the butt cap and the stock yoke numbered “7”. All original and in excellent very superior condition with all the original arsenal polish with slight handling and storage patina. Stock and shoulder stock with all the original finish. Mint “LS” inspector cartouche. Perfect working order and near new bore with excellent rifling. Shows only lightest use. Still has all the blue on the nipple. Best one we have ever had. Nearly all the early dated Pistol-Carbines issued to the First and Second U.S. Cavalry in the West.
