Both barrels are .50 caliber. The lock has a sliding pan cover and two-touch holes. When the rifled barrel is used the sliding pan cover acts as a pan and the touch hole lines up with the pan and the frizzen, in the down position, the rifle fires. Below the slide pan/cover is another lower pan. Which has a touch hole in the pan that is visible when the upper pan slides open when the cock is pulled rearward to the cocked position. There is a mechanism inside the lock that activates when the cock is pulled back and the upper pan slides rearward. The Frizzen is pulled down and the lower pan with touch hole fires the lower barrel (See Photos). The lock, frizzen and barrels are chiseled. The buttplate, trigger guard, ramrod pipes are gilded and engraved. The barrels length is 33" and the overall length is 47½". The stock is tastefully carved. The condition is excellent, and the gun appears unfired. The gun has no markers name or proofs. There appears to be a royal cartouche on the buttplate. Very well made and unusual for the dual pan ignition system. SOLD Antique: Yes |
