S O L D ........LAYAWAY?..... .69 cal., 42” barrel with a very good bore which shows bright areas and some scattered very light oxidation or very light pitting. The metal surfaces are a pleasing mostly smooth silvery gunmetal gray patina with plum toning and light oxidation scattered over all. The rear of barrel shows appropriate Eaglehead VP firing proofs and the tang is dated 1847. The lockplate is properly US Eagle and Harpers Ferry marked and dated 1852. The bands show evidence of having been lightly cleaned but the balance of the musket looks unmolested. The American walnut stock rates very good as lightly cleaned many years ago, the edges having softened somewhat but retaining the light dings and handling marks that come from the years. There are no remnants of an inspectors marking, the lock functions well mechanically and what is likely the original trumpet-shaped ramrod is present. Bore should clean to SHOOTABLE, and is likely SHOOTABLE now. S/H $55 **2nd firearm ships FREE with this one!.... .Thanks, Greg #63
