.58 cal., 40” barrel with avery good. The most desirable of the US used military long arms from the American Civil War is a Springfield produced US Model 1861 Rifle Musket. This 1862 dated example is correct and in Very Good condition and would be a fine addition to any serious collection of Civil War small arms.
CONDITION: Metal has scattered freckled surface oxidation. Markings remain clear. Mechanically excellent, Good bore with somewhat worn riflingm from actual use.. Stock with some light wear and rounding to the edges, dings and light marks, but nothin major. Possible outline of cartouche...hard to tell for certain. Bolster shows pitting from usage.
