Here we have an honest and true Colt 1895 chambered in .38 Long Colt. This revolver is sometimes called the D.A. 38 for a good reason: they are marked COLT. D.A. 38 on the side of the barrel, as they are a double-action revolver chambered for the .38 Long Colt cartridge. This type of double action revolver represents a significant step in the evolution of the revolver, as it was Colt's first swing-out cylinder revolver. This model is unique in that the cylinder rotates counter-clockwise. The 6" barrel has a bright bore and strong rifling. This gun has a blade front and trough rear sights. The gun retains almost all of its original finish with the exception of high-edge wear, scattered discoloration, and various handling marks. Lock up is excellent in the fire condition and everything works like it did the day it left the factory in Hartford, CT. All engraved lettering is sharp and clear. The grips appear to be original and are in great condition. This gun would make a fine addition to an existing collection or the beginning of a new one.
