Description:
This gun is listed by serial number in Les Quick's "The Henry Rifle Book". It is one of the few surviving Iron Frame Henry's that are known. He states that there are 167 in existance. This one is far better than average. Most are pretty rough as they were one of the earliest guns and got used exstensively. This one is clean and sharp. I took the stock off and I don't think the stock had ever been off before. All the screws line up which you rarely see. All the inside numbers match the 24 inch barrel number as do the screws. Even the buttplate is matching numbers. 150 serial range. Sights include a German silver blade front and a folding ladder rear. All markings are legible. Someone cleaned over the barrel address at some time. Early Henry rifles had sight dovetails in both the barrel and frame as this one does. Bore is bright and shiny but it would definately appreciate a good cleaning. Crisp tight action. All parts are correct including spring and follower. This is one of the best that I have had. Stock has a few light handling mars but no splits or cracks and retains a good amount of original finish. Just a great gun that is hard to find.
