.45-70 caliber, 22"" barrel, S/N 210176*.  Large ""V/P/[eagle]"" barrel proofs. Early lock plate with 1873 marking and early coarse knurled hammer.  Rear Buffington barrel sight with band to accommodate the sight.  Walnut stock with ""SWP/1882"" cartouche.  Firing proof behind the trigger guard. These starred carbines were produced at Springfield Arsenal from 1880-1882.  They were assembled from parts and issued to the Militia and National Guard troops The barrel and breech with a light blue look.  Even  looking overall.  Stock is very good with clear cartouche.  The bore is very good.
