WWII U.S. military pistol belonging to U.S. Army Col Herman R. Schell. A highly decorated U.S. soldier who served as Battalion Commander for the 11th Infantry Regiment during WWII. The serial is 1184989 and is dated 1943. The slide is inscribed Col. H.R. Schell. The bore is in excellent condition and the actions work perfectly. The metal is in very good plus condition with ""combat wear"". Col Schell was awarded two Purple Hearts, Croix de Guerre, Bronze Star and Silver Star. The Silver Star was awarded for leading the first boats across the Rhine River and turning back German forces during the Battle of the Bulge. An excellent condition M1911A1 with interesting history. Comes with a U.S. military holster with Lt Col Schell written in the flap.
