Description:
Very rare Browning Olympian chambered in .257 Roberts. Circa 1962. The 24" pencil barrel is marked with "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY" on the left “MADE IN BELGIUM” on the right. Barrel ring is signed "R. Risack". The serial number is located on bottom of the barrel. There are 2 triangles of scrolled acanthus engraving at sides of breech end. Coin satin finished Mauser action has gold-washed trigger. Action is engraved with well cut, shaded, acanthus scroll, as background to game scenes appropriate to caliber; an antelope is on left side of receiver ring and a deer is on right. Floorplate depicts a mountain lion on a limb of a tree and a portrait of a mountain goat is on trigger guard bow. The floorplate is signed “J Baerten”. Nicely figured American walnut gloss finished rosewood capped pistol grip stock is fitted with Browning plastic buttplate. Both sides of the butt are figured with sunburst fans. Stock features Monte Carlo comb with swept cheekpiece, single recoil bolt and rosewood forend tip with white line spacer. Matching flared grip cap has inset gold diamond on bottom. Closely spaced checkering at grip and forend is flanked by relief carved scrolling acanthus with stipple shaded background. Sling studs are in forend and on toe line. Rifle is in excellent overall condition, retaining essentially all of it's finishes on the wood and metal and only a few minor light handling marks. Bore rates excellent.
