Selling this super clean Marlin 336 lever action in .35 Remington with a JM 20” micro groove barrel. The gun is original 1969 production (pre-safety), very clean, even the front sight hood is present. I have owned this rifle for about 7 years, purchased it used fired one box of 20 rounds, sat in the safe ever since. Before I owned it I doubt it had even 100 rounds fired. This gun is one that has not been messed with, no mods, no abuse hardly any use. When the rifle is examined internally it is evident to have seen very little use, the bluing is 98% percent on internal surfaces, and the chamber has not lost its original blueish virgin color as any rifle does after firing. The puzzling issue for me is how the wood has small dings. It is as though this was a gun the previous owner had stored in a safe or cabinet and fondled it often, and/or showed it to his friends frequently; not sure! There are also some tiny scratches on the metal, but nothing serious. The screws except (2) are with perfect slots, those that are a little burred show very minor imprefection. I find no rust or pitting on this rifle, no cracks in the wood. The JM barrel has a bore which is like new, as shiny as it could be having zero issues. The original Marlin bullseye and white butt spacer are present on the butt stock; and the butt plate has no cracks or chips. I rate the rifle at about 96% (grading it hard) due to handling dings, otherwise is would come in at 98% easily. The rifle did not have a scope mounted on it but appears to have had a side mounted peep sight, due to the faint ghost in the bluing, present, but not prominent. Super nice clean JM Marlin 336, it would be very hard to improve on for a 53 year old rifle, unless you find one new in the box. Another gun from my safe I hate to sell, but it is only sitting in the dark, it needs to go forward to another appreciative owner. Please NOTE: This rifle will be shpped with the butt stock OFF the receiver. I do this becuase shippers have a history of damaging rifles, especially the stocks. So, this butt stock will be carefully removed, the ONE screw which holds the stock to the receiver (at the tang) will be put back in the receiver. The butt stock will be wrapped separately from the front end of the rifle and boxed in a stout package to prevent the delivery service damagaing the gun. Finding a walnut 53 year old Marlin stock is very diffucult! A am NOT an FFL dealer so this will ship with my Arizona drivers license for identification. This must ship to an FFL dealer, curio is OK too.
