Description:
This Ithaca Model 37 shotgun was a wife’s gift to an U.S. Army Vietnam helicopter pilot upon his return in the 70’s. The shotgun was placed in what appears to be a sheepskin lined Browning gun case where it has remained unfired. The year of manufacture is 1971. As such, the shotgun qualifies as a C&R firearm which can be delivered directly to the holder of a C&R license.
This slide action pump shotgun is a unique John Browning creation with the ejection port out the bottom. This model 37 is so reliable the U.S. Army used it during WWII and Vietnam periods. It is great for duck hunting, field hunting or clay target shooting as your hulls end up at your feet.
This shotgun has a 26" blued steel barrel, modified choke and 2-3/4" chamber and fit with a high visibility red front sight. Left side of barrel is rolled stamped "MODEL 37-FEATHERLIGHT-12 GA-2 3/4 CHAMBER PROOF TESTED ITHACA GUN CO, INC, ITHACA, NY MADE IN USA-ROTO (symbol) FORGED". Has 26" BARREL (25.5 to receiver), 2-3/4" CHAMBER, 4+1, VENTILATED RIB, MODIFIED CHOKE, PISTOL GRIP, ITHICA USA MADE 1971, 7 LBS 4OZ. NEVER USED. C&R QUALIFIED.
Left side of receiver is engraved with duck hunting scene. Right side of receiver is engraved with dog and pheasant hunting scene. The shotgun is fitted with a cross bolt safety and a smooth single trigger. Gun is fit with an American walnut stock that has a pistol hand grip and grip cap stating ITHICA. Round forearm is walnut with similar 2 panel checkering. 7 Lbs. 4 Oz.
