Search hard and you will find few Superposed 28ga. guns with the desirable LONG TANG, ROUND KNOB feature.  There are several reasons for this, starting with the fact that they did not begin production of the 28ga. Superposed until 1960 and they ended production of long tang, round knob guns in 1965.  In a 5-year period only 837 28ga. guns were produced.  Why do the collectors and shooters seek these guns out compared to later guns that had short tangs and then square knob pistol grips?  First, they are more elegant with the old-world long tang.  Second, with the short tangs came salt wood.  From 1967 to around 1971 the infamous salt wood debacle tarnished the Superposed guns, literally.  Salt was used to dry the wood which then ate away at the metal.  Browning stood behind its mistakes and replaced much of the bad wood over time, but guns built during that era are always suspect AND FAR LESS VALUABLE.  This gun, sn898 F5 built in 1965, is one of the most desirable Grade 1 Superposed 28ga. guns, as it is LONG TANG, ROUND KNOB, AND HAS THE MOST DESIRABLE 28” BARRELS.  The metal on the gun IS IN FACTORY ORIGINAL 98%+ CONDITION, with just a few handling marks and light wear on the underside of the action.  Less than 350 Grade 1 28-gauge guns with 28” barrels were made with the long tang, round knob configuration prior to 1966.  Study the photos and you will see a Grade 1 that saw little use in the field.  This little Superposed 28ga. has nicer wood than most Grade 1 guns, most all the gold on the trigger, We believe this is the best Superposed Grade 1 28ga. presently offered for sale at any price, and it is priced under other offerings with less desirable features.  INCLUDED WITH THE PRICE OF THIS GUN IS A BROWNING AIRWAYS SUPERPOSED CASE FOR A TWO BARREL SET AND A SET OF BROWNING .410 SUPERTUBES (sub-gauge tubes) SERIAL NUMBERED TO THIS GUN, COMPLETE WITH THE .410 EJECTORS.  The case has a $300 value and the Supertubes are worth about $400 and add some fun versatility to this fine Browning 28ga.. This is an investment quality gun that is highly sought after and will only increase in value as you enjoy its use and care for it wisely.  This gun is over 57 years old and still like new!  Thanks for looking.
