The 45 Government caliber (45-70) U.S. Model 1888 ramrod bayonet ttapdoor rifle was the last of the trapdoor rifle models prior to the adoption of the Krag rifle. This rifle has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. All the metal exhibits a smooth brown patina. The stock is good with a strong SWP 1891 cartouche. The right side of the butt has 45-70 carved in it. The swivels and front sight cover are present. It is equipped with a Model 1907 sling. The action functions correctly. This is a nice representative Model 1888.
