Samuel McCosh worked 1835-1845 in Washington County, Pennsylvania, 1849-1860 he worked at 22 Diamond Street in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and then in 1862-1890 back in Washington County Pennsylvania. This rifle has a 37 3/4 inch barrel approximately, with the overall length being 53 1/2 inches. It has an 40 caliber or there abouts octagon barrel. The engraved percussion lock is signed James Bown & Son, Pittsburgh PA. It has a brass engraved patchbox. The bore is descent with visible rifling. The double set triggers function properly.
